Jennifer Gajan, former New Orleans Saintsation and daughter of Saints and LSU legend Hokie Gajan, is proud and excited to be creating a new component of the Bayou Lacombe Cardinals Minor League Football Organization. This Spring will not only see the Cardinals football players, fans will also be treated to performances by the Bayou Lacombe Cardinals Cheerleaders!!
As a member of a dance team for many years, as well as a huge football fan, Gajan believes in the undeniable value that any type of team sports can create. “I’m a big believer in creating unity and using the strength that comes with it to push us into greater things. Being a cheerleader makes you not only a teammate, it makes you a leader and an entertainer. It allows you the opportunity to have fun and create an energy that empowers and supports the crowd and the team.” says Gajan. Gajan is most thrilled with the opportunities that are created through the Bayou Lacombe Cardinals Organization which include educational opportunities, financial and legal advice, mentorship and career opportunities for young men and now women.
The mission of the Bayou Lacombe Cardinals is to provide guidance and opportunities for young, adult athletes while providing quality entertainment and community outreach for St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana and surrounding areas. “The idea of using sports to open doors is right up my alley. Dancing is my passion and it taught me to be tough and be a part of a group of women that are fearless and fun. It taught me to be bold and brave and to generate positive energy. We will build camaraderie, confidence and competence through dance. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?” Community outreach, appearances at events and festivals to promote the Bayou Lacombe Cardinals, free dance clinics for youth, will all be part of how the cheerleaders will support the team. Bayou Lacombe Cardinals Cheerleader Tryouts will be held on October 3rd at 10:00 AM at Pine Street Park in Madisonville.
